Safe at Home

SAFE AT HOME

If you're concerned about home security, putting bars on your windows and a "Beware of
Dog" sign in the yard goes a long way. But the latest in high-tech security tools, also have
a lot to offer. They're easy to install, and operate and can be controlled from Internet-
connected smartphones.

As the market for home security continues to grow and evolve, so does the technology
we use to protect our homes. You now have systems that can monitor your home for
any kind of disturbance at all hours of the day and night. There are now home security
providers that allow you to interface with your systems remotely via smartphones and
tablets. There are even systems that can protect you from a lot more than just intrusion.
These systems can include things like advanced heat and smoke sensors as well as even
carbon monoxide and gas detectors. Also, researchers and developers are still striving to
make what is good.

Lots of movies today feature businesses and governmental entities with facial recognition
software in place, usually to keep unauthorized personnel from accessing areas with
highly-classified information and priceless goods. Eventually, many of us may be able
to install this software in our own homes. Why would we want to? Video cameras at our
doors could identify our family and friends, plus strangers.

There are numerous companies currently working with facial recognition software, for both business and personal use. When and if it becomes widely available isn't yet known. Android currently has a face-unlock feature in its Android 4 operating system, which is also called Ice Cream Sandwich. But if you hold up a photo of the authorized user, it can be fooled. So, it seems there are some drawbacks with this one.

Various companies in India are offering home security systems like CCTV cameras, wireless systems and so on. However, one significant difference in home security systems in India and abroad is that in India it is not yet used much in homes but the
implementation is mostly in offices and hospitals. “People do not want to invest in home security systems but having one is extremely worth it as investing in security today will
save a great deal of losses tomorrow” says Aliya Khan, a homemaker who has installed a home security system. The reason for this is that people think there are other low priced alternatives, but these are not better. “I feel having a dog and watchman is enough, but
once I went out and both my dog and watchman were sleeping and I lost money from my
home after a burglar broke the lock” says Rupa Sharma. Therefore, it is important to have
security technologies at home as it will ensure a safe future for all.
