HYDERABAD KII MASHHOOR "BIRYANI"

Hyderabadi cuisine has a 400-year history legacy. It evolved in the kitchens of the Nizams, who elevated food to a sublime art form. Hyderabad cuisine is highly influenced by Mughals and partially by Arabic, Turkish and Irani food where rice, wheat and spices are widely used to great effect.

In the past, the food was called Ghizaayat. The cuisine is linked to the nobles, who religiously maintain the authenticity of the past, and the recipes are a closely guarded secret. The royal cooks are known as Khansamas, highly regarded by the nobles. Shahi Dastarkhan is the dining place, where food is served and eaten. A chowki is a low table, instead of a dining table and cotton mattresses for squatting and bolsters for the back rest. The Dastarkhan is revered in the noble household.

The herbs and spices used in the dish as well as the method of preparation gives the dish its name. For example, Murgh do Pyaaza is named so because Onion ('Pyaaz') is added to the dish twice, in different variations.

On Formal occasions, the food is garnished with warq(a very fine, pure silver leaf created by prolonged hammering and flattening of a small piece of silver). A business delegation from Britain currently visiting India loved the Hyderabadi biryani they had here and are now keen to see some food joints from the city selling the royal rice preparation and other delicacies in London.

Like all the visitors to this historic city, the British businessmen could not resist the temptation of having the famous Hyderabadi biryani - made of finest variety of rice cooked with mutton or chicken along with generous mix of spices.

Collateral Damage

Cyprus has an open,free- market,service- based economy with some light manufacturing. Internationally, Cyprus promotes its geographical location as a "bridge" between east and West, along with its educated English-speaking population, moderate local costs, good airline connections, and telecommunications. Cyprus becomes the fifth eurozone country to receive a bail out after Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain.
Since gaining independence from the United Kingdom in 1960, Cyprus has had a record of successful economic performance, reflected in strong growth, full employment conditions and relative stability. The underdeveloped agrarian economy inherited from colonial rule has been transformed into a modern economy, with dynamic services, industrial and agricultural sectors and an advanced physical and social infrastructure. Earlier this week, the final terms of the Cyprus bailout were agreed between the small Mediterranean island nation and the European Union and the IMF, following a protracted crisis that saw the country's banking sector shut down for the best part of two weeks.
To secure the bailout, Cyprus had to agree that bondholders, investors and savers in the country's two biggest banks - Bank of Cyprus and Laiki - take a hit.
Banks that cannot provide that evidence will face pressure to accept government bailouts or, in extreme cases, be shut down.
The failure of its biggest bank would have grave consequences for Cyprus, where the economy revolves around financial services — a result of the island’s appeal as a low-tax gateway to the Middle East and Africa for companies from Russia and elsewhere in Europe.
The country's political leaders, facing the worst crisis since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, made clear there were tough times to come.

TERROR HITS DILSUKHNAGAR

Dilsukh Nagar is one of the densely populated locality of Hyderabad and has been part of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation since 2007. This means it was integrated into the city of Hyderabad very recently but was always a busy middle-class residential and commercial centre thanks to the migrants from the coastal Andhra. Its 30-km radius area packs nearly 20 lakh population and hence has markets, hotels, educational institutions and of course cinema halls. It is on Mumbai-Vijayawada National Highway 9 with a heaviest traffic density in the capital region.

Traffic returned to normal today and commercial establishments began to open on the stretch, two days after the deadly terror attack near the bus stand, claimed 16 lives.

Dilsukhnagar, which connects to Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway, is abuzz with activity on a usual day, as it houses a number of educational institutions, coaching centres for job aspirants, government offices, several malls and innumerable commercial establishments.

In a press release issued on October 26, after Maqbool's arrest, the Delhi Police said that "Maqbool helped Imran in doing a recce of Dilsukhnagar, Begum Bazar and Abids in Hyderabad on a motorcycle."

Andhra Pradesh Police on Friday said the face of one of the suspects of February 21 Dilsukhnagar twin blasts case here was clearly captured by CCTV cameras and efforts are on to identify the person. "The face of one of the suspects with a bicycle has been clearly captured by CCTV cameras and the process is on for the identification of the suspect," Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy told reporters here late this evening.

The busy Dilsukhnagar area of the city, which witnessed twin bomb blasts on Thursday, is limping back to normalcy with shopkeepers and roadside vendors resuming their business.
